College Success Common Ground is committed to preparing our students for college success. Each year, more than 93% of our students are admitted to college. Here are some of the supports that Common Ground offers its students as they make successful transitions to higher education: Guidance Groups Every Common Ground student is part of a small guidance group; starting in 9th grade, college exploration is a core part of our guidance curriculum. Junior College Experience Class This course -- which all students take during their junior year -- helps students to set college and career goals and explore options for higher education. They leave the course with a list of colleges to which they plan to apply, improved presentation and writing skills, and a clear post-high school plan. Senior Writing (12th Grade) In this class, students have the opportunity to work on their college essay, an essential piece of the college application. Creating a College Going Culture Common Ground creates a college going culture through visits to colleges, college admissions officer visits to Common Ground and the opportunity speak to representatives from a large range of schools at a local college fair.
